Devices. How much time is too much? 18 Jun, 2019
During colder months kids are spending more time indoors and on their devices. Although it may seem unavoidable it is important to encourage some good habits. The World Health Organisation has issued its first ever guidance for how much screen time children under five should have. The answer is no more than one hour on screens and no less than one hour outdoors playing.
Did you know that children who spend more time outdoors are less likely to develop short sightedness? And when children stare at the screen for a long time, they may blink less than normal which can dry the eyes leading to eye strain and fatigue.
If you feel that screen time is having a negative effect on your child’s eyesight, be sure to make an appointment to visit your local EyeQ Optometrist.
